    First it says exercise is more important than calcium, then it says they are both the same by the end of the article…

    And I agree that they are both needed about the same. Its true that calcium is really good for bones, but if you’re sedentery then its not gonna help you a whole lot.

    But if you get your calcium and vitamins from healthy foods, and you get your cardio & weight training- esp. weight training as you get older- then you’re going to be pretty well off. And its not just to fight osteoperosis, look at how a healthy diet and exercise helps lots of other health issues.

    I read it all and I do agree. What you do when you are young will effect your later life. It is hard when you are very young to realize that one day you will get older. I work with teens and do encourage them to exercise and stay fit for just the reasons the article states.

    You need both calcium and plenty of exercise for good bone health.

    One without the other is insufficient for good health. The amount of calcium you need per day is about 800 mg but a bit more would be better. Vitamin D is required for the absorption of calcium.

    It is well known that people who are bedridden need extra calcium as inactivity depletes your calcium levels.
